A personal connection to the school and community

I chose this as my senior project because I was born in Barangay Macatal, Philippines, which is the same place where Macatal Elementary School is located.

My mom also attended this school from Grade 1 to Grade 6, which made this project feel even more personal to me and my family.

When we visited in 2024, I was able to see the school environment in person and watch the students during their graduation. Seeing the school up close helped me better understand both the needs of the campus and the hard work of the students.

That experience inspired me to create a student-led fundraiser that could give back to the school and support students with supplies, classroom materials, and improvements that can make learning better.

My hope is that this project can make a real difference, even in a small way, and show how education can open opportunities for students in every community.

Why Education Matters

As part of this project, I wrote a research paper about why education is important for children in low-income communities and how it impacts their future.
